ok, so Troy celebrated his first birthday yesterday, he had a lovely day and as I did with Jayden I have now stopped breastfeeding him which he has taken to really well and has no probs with bottles. In less than 24 hours my boobs have got so big and painfull, im ready to kill someone to ease the pain and im not looking forward to 2 months of agony/wet clothes/painfull cuddles .......maybe I have missed a bit about ending the breastfeeding stage on the website but I am really aching and need to do something, anything :( [smilie=helpsmilie.gif]

Express! I only had to express twice after Jack stopped suddenly when he was sick and never went back on.
I had a pump, I couldn't do it by hand, even though I tried.

You could end up with mastitus or the like if you leave it... Try to express completely off both sides just once (put it on their cereal!!) and that should help x

Thanks, I browsed through the breastfeeding bits but honestly cant find anything on 'finishing breastfeeding' though theres plenty of advice on dealing with the pain during I would like to know ideas on what to do when your not breastfeeding anymore but hows best to go about reducing the milk supply and drying up so to speak.
thanks again (looks like im going to be expressing the excess again soon) :(

I cut one feed every few days until I was down to one bedtime feed. I was reluctant to give that up admittedly, so kept that going for a couple of weeks before fully stopping.

Have you tried sage, it's supposed to help dry up milk and vitamin B6. Holland and Barrett do sage tablets but not sure on dosage.

I had to express when I stopped feeding Kian too as my boobs hurt so much! I expressed just enough to get rid of the pain & fullness. I only had to do it twice. Hope that helps x
