We're finally getting away to see the in-laws in Australia at Christmas - and Miss H will be having her first flight ever. She'll be 15 months.
The more I think about it, the more I think we're completely mad for doing it, and we should have gone away when she wasn't the little rascal she is now... but it's done.
We've booked her a seat (rather than have her on our laps for 17 hours...), and we intend to take our car seat with us (everything indicates Emirates will take it - a Britax First Class Plus) and were thinking about getting this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Traveling-Toddler-Seat-Travel-Accessory/dp/B000JHN3AS/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I14CIND318T5NN&colid=14SPB3NYP4Q6B - does anyone have one, and how was it?
Can anyone recommend anything that worked for them with a toddler on a long-haul flight? I know we should take toys, and ideally lots of new ones to keep her occupied. The first flight is from 8pm our time to Dubai, so hopefully she'll sleep at that point.
I'm still breastfeeding, and intend to continue that, so know that'll help with takeoff and landing.
She's not walking yet, just cruising and crawling, though I'm hoping she'll be walking by then... so all tips welcomed - I just have a fear of her crawling under someone's seat or something...
Oh fun times ahead...

We went to France when Jack was 13 months, and it was only a 2 1/2 hour flight, but going was terrible as I hadn't flown with my children ever before and hadn't realised how long checking in etc would take, and hadn't brought enough snacks. The air hostess ended up giving him a biscuit for free as he was crying so much, but on a better note, coming home was fine.

Oh god, I hadn't thought about Check In queues... good point. Although I'm one of those people who loves to get there four hours before the plane takes off (rather than three) - fortunately it's an 8pm flight, so that should be possible.
We're doing Baby Led Weaning with Miss H, so she's been on solids since we started at 6 months, so taking mini rice cakes wont be an issue - but I know Australia wont let you bring fruit and veg into the country - so I need good snack ideas too - I know you can throw them away at Passport Control, I'd just hate to waste things - and I don't want to rely on rice cakes and biscuits...
So many questions! Sorry...

Take fruit and veg, but make sure that's what you give her first so that there's no need to throw it away.

I think you can take fruit and veg to eat on the plane, just not off it even if you've been given it on the flight , if that helps.
