PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT ANYONE EVER WILLINGLY GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I BEG YOU
This hotel came highly recommended to us by Barrhead travel, and when I checked reviews it seemed to be a lovely place.
All soooooooooooooooo wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the hotel, in Callas de Majorca, is situated 45 minutes drive from Palma airport. We took the free shuttle transport, and were on the bus for 2 and half hours!!!! On the way home we heard some people had been on the bus for 4+ hours!!!
When we arrived, our first impressions were that of standard Spanish hotels (Benidorm etc), but making our way through reception, the pool area was lovely! On arrival in the appartment - it was very sparse (we got friendly with people in the rooms who stated the same) 1 bedroom, a bathroom, and a living area with sofa beds, and the 2 cots placed in. No TV, and no air con!!!!! - just a pathetic wee fan to cool the rooms. Balconies were tiny - barely enough room for Neil and I to sit on!!!!!!
Cleanliness of the hotel - hmmm this is hard. In main areas - pool, reception, bar it was very good. In the rooms not so. Several times during the fortnight our beds were not made (Neil and I had 2 single beds). The sheets on Ella's sofa bed and the twins cots were NEVER voluntarily changed. Abbie was sick her first morning - just a tiny bit on the bed, and that was how we knew they were never changed. Eventually after 10 days both girls were very very very sick in the morning all over their beds, so stripped the sheets off, and dumped them with the towels in the bathroom. We returned to the room to find clean sheets, but no beds or cots made up - we had to do it ourselves!!!!!!!! Our room was clearly not cleaned very well - the filth on the floor was disgusting. I spilled a little talc our fist night there, and it was still there as we checked out 14 nights later!!!!
Food - shocking!!!!!! Chips with everything! Salad was limp soggy lettuce, raw carrots soaked in oil making them soggy and a tomato! The meat every night was Rabbit, or Veal. Occassionaly we got pork. Only other option was pasta. NOTHING FOR KIDS AT ALL DESPITE BEING A FAMILY HOTEL! Our 3 girls lived on plates on plain pasta twice a day for a full fortnight. There was never a description on the sauce - and they cannot eat mushrooms or shellfish. So I tended to avoid the sauce to err on the side of caution. No fruit available throughout the day - only at dinner time! Bananas were put out 2 days a week if we were lucky.
Other misendeamours - No food allowed out of the restaurant - actually everyone was searcherd leaving the restaurant to make sure!!!! Set meal times - meaning only allowed food about 9 hours a day when we supposed to be all inclusive! - 8-10am breakfast, 1-2.30pm lunch, 3-4pm snack(which was leftovers from lunch) and then7-9pm dinner! Nothing else! Not allowed in dinning room wet - actually searched to check! Folk turned away cos they were sweating. Ella got a bollicking cos she was wet - she had spilt her drink and is 3 FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then the bitching about you as you walked away from the Staff!!!!!!! Only 1 set of toilets poolside - 3 cubicles in ladies. Not allowed in these wet?????? So where do you go to the toilet if you in the pool? Also never filled with toilet paper. Kids club often shut down the baby pool for their activites. No-one else allowed in the pool during the times they decide!!! Kids club got the kids to go begging for money every few days to help fund the club!!! Going round asking strangers by the pool to give money! Shocking Entertainment staff were rude, and uncaring. One in particular demanded we leave the shade so she could play darts. She had played that same game for 3 days in a different area. I was half 2 - so height of sun, no other shaded areas available, All 3 girls were sleeping. When challenged what I should do with 3 sleeping kids, I was told leave them in the direct sunlight will do them good!!!!!!! They are sleeping, so I have them in the shade as any sensible mother would do! Kids mini disco was a fiasco, badly organsied, and quite frankly a free for all. They openly critiscised my twins for screaming telling me (over the microphone) " to get my babies to shut up!". They were screaming out of excitement and in a way trying to sign along to the music. Not enough room in the dinning room for all the guests. So many were forced to wait outside, potentially only having a few minutes in which to be allowed to eat!!!
Oh and of course the biggest problem of all. This is the most ALL EXCLUSIVE, All inclusive holiday we have ever been on. Bouncy chute into water, bouncy castles, pony rides, water walkers, bungee trampolines, hair braiding, stalls (selling toys of course!) all available everyday ( so kids obviously would want a turn on them) NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE!!!!!!!!!! Also loads and loads of rides and arcade games including claw games filled with current toys - BEN 10, Dora, Smurfs etc, which the kids desperately wanted - yup you guessed it. Cost even more money. Everything outwith the water in the pool cost money over and above the huge price we had all paid to be ALL INCLUSIVE ( and believe me it was one of the dearer holidays when I looked).
xx
