Lou's post made me think about Chicken Pox parties.

Would you ever go to one??

Yesterday a friend told me her son has chicken pox and I was happy for Charlie to spend time with him, because he hasn't had c.p yet and I want him to get them while he is young.
K and C had them while young, 2yrs and 8mths. Charlie has so far been immune it seems as there was loads of his nursery buddies who had them yet Charlie never did.

What are your thoughts??

I wouldn't purposely send her to a party as such, but I wouldn't stop her playing with a friend who has chicken pox.

I did once but only by accident! I took my boy to a birthday party and got a call a couple of days afterwards to say that one of the children had come down with chicken pox. This was less than 2 weeks before we were due to fly off on a holiday and the airline wouldn;t have let us if he'd had CP and still had unhealed scabs so I was nervous till we went. He was OK and it turned out that all the other children were too, she'd only had a mild case, but I don't think I'd deliberately take him to a CP party. At least CP is fairly harmless if irritating. More worryingly I've heard of measles parties  which could have serious consequences but he's up to date with immunisations.

I think this is something my mum and her friends did with us when I was little. I don't have anything against it, but I don't think I could knowingly expose Lucy to an illness, I'm too much of a softie!

Personally I hate the idea! Not too sure why though! I really dont like the thought of exposing little ones to anything on purpose, they will all get these things by themselves (as we found out when Ellis was 5 months old & covered in cp!). The thought of Chicken Pox and Measles parties make me feel kind of sad :?

I'm lucky and both my boys have had it, but if they hadn't I'd take them to a pox party as wanted them to get it young!

I dunno really. I want them to have it while they're young but I'd feel terrible knowingly making them ill. The thing that was concerning me about them having it now was that it was gonna interfere with Lucas starting nursery & I didn't want him starting later than the others & feeling a bit left out when he did start. Saying that I would rather them have it sooner than later. With 2 of them at school now I'm betting it won't be long before our house plays host to the pox!
