Went to birmingham with lo and Mum over the weekend there and OMG was it not the worst experience ever. Rest of the trip was fantastic but the hotel were awful.
Firstly when we checked in they told us that they were renovating the hotel in parts and we might hear some noise before 6pm. Fine except that once we went up to the room we discovered that in what appeared to be a relatively empty hotel they had put us on the floor being renovated!! The noise wasn't the problem it was the mess and the smell. The smell of paint hit you the moment you walked in and the dust and bits of debris were everywhere.
Fine didn't plan to spend that much time in hotel anyway.
2nd night they put in a large group of revellers on the same floor as a family with young child.....do people have no common sense?
This doesn't even include the fact that they checked us out after the first nioght despite booking us in for 2 nights!! Ifmore than one person working there had a brain cell they would set the ploace on fire rubbing them together!!

I stayed at that Ibis about 4 years ago and it was absolutely fine. Change of management or something perhaps. I mean it was cheap and basic but it was clean and the service was good.
Hope you've written to them to tell them. They might offer you something, you never know.
