Ive only got Just over 1 month to go till my birth date! but i am very worried.
I have had mild depression - gladley not had to go on medication, but i know from previous feelings it might be on its way back. Of course i have a wonderful husband whos there for me but the usual feelings of dread, worrie and 'low' feelings are slipping in. Negative feelings and stupid worries and irrational fears (like not being able to bond, and having no maternal bones in my body) that have no basis for being there! Im also still working till my due week so its probbably not helping. Any way just wanted to vent!
Anybody got any coping techniques which may come in handy?

aww it is such a stressful time having a baby.. it is completely natural to worry about bonding etc expecially if you havent had much experience with babies.
If you are worried about depression returning or the need for medication then keep talking to people like the midwife or healthvisitor. It is said there is a higher chance of PND occuring if you have had a history of depression. There is nothing to be ashamed of as you know just try to get help if you think you need it to stop things getting out of hand. I would also suggest a thoughts diary to help get your stresses out onto paper along with a positive column for any negatives such as
I think I wont bond with the baby.........I have already bonded with my baby and we will grow together.
hope this helps and keep posting

It is perfectly normal to worry about things like bonding with the baby etc, i think just about everyone is worried when having their first as you don't really know what to expect!
Its good that you recognise the signs you are becoming depressed hun, but please, try not to worry! I think maybe the stress and worry of having a baby is making you feel like this. Just try to relax and look forward to your new baby, tackle any problems IF they arise!
Maybe you could change your date for maternity leave if you think it is getting too much??? It might help if you have more time to relax and prepare for your new arrival!
I hope everything works out for you xxxx
Keep coming on here for support though eh!

Thanks for the support, glad this link is on and i can have a look to know im not alone.
Its probably the stress of just moving, and living so close to the hospital as well as working there! Decided to go for a walk the other night, just up to the shop (opposite direction of everything!) like some of the other mums have been advised and it did help a little. Well back to work!!
