Where do you stand on this?

Personally I cant stand seeing tiny little babies with holes in their ears

Alisha was 7 when she had hers done.Still young I know but she'd been asking for a year and I'd talked her through everything that happens. She made the choice

Should a little baby be put through it?

I think it's horrid! Just looks cheep & nasty in my opinion.

Also, why would you want to draw attention to you little babys face?!

I think they should be old enough to make their own decision.

I wouldn't personally, i'd have to wait until they were older. I was about 4 when I had mine done I think.
There is a little girl in Kian's class at school with massive creole hoop things in, they look terrible & must be so heavy in her ears :(

Hate it, Hate it, Hate it

As far as I'm concerned it's child abuse. Far better to wait till the child is old enough to decide for theirself and look after their earrings themselves. Also you wouldn't let your baby go to bed with a tiny sharp object capable of piercing their lungs so why let them have them in their ears where they can get hold of them?
Babies are beautful enough without sticking baubles on them.

It’s solely up to the child if they want ear piercing, not up to the parent.
What annoys me is when parents get their toddler’s ears pierced just because the parents WANT it done. In my opinion, that violates the child’s right to decide for themselves.

Plus it looks terrible.

I cant stand it.

I remeber once i saw a 1yr old baby girl with it done and it looked so tacky. I though their was an age limit (but i may be wrong) so not sure how the baby had hers pierced .

I havent had the girls done and wont until they are old enough to decide. My mum had mine done at around 6mths old back in the day when a well meaning aunt did it with a needle and ice..OUCH!! Obviously I dont remember it and I hardly wear earrings although that is more due to me forgetting to buy any!!

Hi, my husband is Spanish and from what I know is that all (probably over 90%) of baby girls born in Spain have their ears pierced a day or 2 after they are born...by the midwife!!! it seems to be a very old tradition but I don't like it at all.....my daughter was born in the UK (phew...lol) and only had her ears pierced when she was 6...that is still young but she wanted it done ...I am very strict that she can only wear tiny gold or silver earrings. Every time we went to visit Spain friends of the family would ask was she a boy or girl - because they couldn't see earrings in and wanted to know why she didn't have them pierced!!!!...I told them that she was too young (at the time) and that I did not see it was necessary...I only meant to write a quick note but it has turned into a waffle!! :)
