Right Ive been bidding on houses and had a phone call this morning saying were we still interested in a house I had bid on last week. She said she will send us application out.
So Im confused cos Im new to all this. Does that mean that we will get this house or will there be others? Because Ive looked online and we were 4th in line for it.
Dont really understand all this bidding etc!!!
Any advice would be appreciated though PLEASE xxx

I no that when it says 4th in line in means the other people bidding will get it first but maybe all them have turned it down or somthing.Hope you get the house

I dont know how it works either - all this bidding seems silly to me, surely if you need a house then they should give you one. Or were they fed up of people turning houses down??

Don't understand that! No bidding up here!
Up here you are on the housing list and are given points according to your situation. You get points for a variety of things including medical reasons, ages of kids, years on the list etc etc.
Once you are at the top of the list for a house in your criteria (for you Em that would be a two bed house as your girls are still young) you are offered a house when it becomes available. You have a choice of accepting it or not. If you don't accept it you will be offered up to 2 more houses. If you don't accept any of them you move down the list.
I'm at a total loss with the bidding thing tho!!

Well Yvonne its def different down here cos I said that to Richie that a 2 bed would do us but we cant bid on 2 bed houses it has to be 3!!!
Richie is going to ring them this afternoon see what they say.

That is how it was here until last year when they changed the system to bidding. It's silly! It meant del would have been in a 1bed flat with her baby until the baby was 10yrs old before they would consider moving her!! disgusting!

I think it means the other people either weren't entitled to it or turned it down. They only usually ask if you're still interested if they are gonna offer it to you as far as I know. The same thing happened to my sister. She got offered something she bid on & wasn't top of the list but the lady told her it was cos the other person had turned it down.
