What age would you allow your child to have a piercing?

Lucie has her belly button done(for about 3 years) and Leah wants it doing now

I got my belly button done just before i turned 16 as a present from my mum. I think bout 15/16s when i would let mine have theirs depending on what kind of piercing it is. Belly button or ears im happy with but things like eyebrows or lips will defo have to wait until they are older!!!

I agree they should wait until they are older for facial piercings

Leah wants her belly button doing for her 14th birthday.She is not like most 14 year olds.She is far more mature so I know she will be responsible and take care of it so we are considering allowing her to have it done

16 in my house. I let them have their ears done when they went to the comp I think! Maddie went through a bit of a phase at about 14 of wanting her belly button done. Told her she had to wait till she was 16 but now she's nearly 18 in May and doesn't want it done any more.

She knows a couple of people (including her best friend's mum) who've had horrendous infections in theirs and I think it's put her off!

Eyebrows, noses, lips? 65!!!!
Nobody's ever asked, thank goodness!

well i got my tongue pierced at 16 and when my children are older it will be the same

Dunno really, having boys I don't think they'll be wanting their belly buttons pierced

i wasnt allowed my ears pierced untill i was 13!

my sis had her belly done at 14 ...and now she is covered in piercings and tattoos and shes only 18

i think it really depends on the child
julie if she knows what she wants and you think she is mature enough i would say go for it
i was an old 14 year old i left school at 15 and was working so i know what you mean when you say about her

i would let her to be honest its not permenant

To be honest Ju, I would let her have it done.

Leah seems really grown up and to think that she's come to you and Mark to ask and not just gone and got it done (like some would have done).

It shows maturity straight away!

i think you should let her hae it done..like others have said its not a permanent thing so she could take it out if she dont like it
but im sure she will!!!
