Poor Sarah - almost 2 weeks ago, she had two big lumps on her neck, just below the jawline on each side, and the doctor said it was glandular fever, and put her on antibiotics. The lumps got a lot smaller, but yesterday she was complaining of a sore neck again, and the lumps have come back. They are so big, that they are visible, probably about golf ball size. So I rang the doctors this morning, and got her an appointment for this morning (they are good with appointments). The doctor says it looks like glandular fever, but may not be, so she took 4 vials of blood from Sarah for testing. Sarah was so good, didn't even flinch when she put the needle in. I told her she was going to get it done, but it wouldn't be too sore, and she didn't panic. We will get the results in a few days. I bought her a DVD as a treat for being so good, as well as she is sick.

oh no bless her! It must have been very scary for both of you and it sounds like you were both very brave. I hope that the results come back quickly and that it is easily fixable x

We got the results. The doctor phoned the house to tell me. Sarah has, and excuse the spelling, strestacoccal. It is something that everyone has in their body, but sometimes it causes problems. She has been put on adult dose antibiotics, so hopefully she will get better soon. Also, she is very low in iron, so now has medicine for that too.

Glad she's ok. Lucas had an ear infection last month & that was streptococcal too. It cleared up with Amoxycillin so hopefully she'll be better soon

Glad it wasn't Glandular Fever Audrey as that really is a long old haul to recover from. Strep Infections can be nasty. (I remember Maddie being hospitalised with it when she was 11. She was so bad they actually thought she had meningitis.) Hopefully the antibiotics will sort Sarah out in no time now.....

The blood that was taken was tested for Glandular Fever, as that was what they said she had at the start, but it came back negative. Christine also has lumps on her neck, although hers aren't as big as Sarah's, and I had her at the doctor's this morning, and she had blood taken too. Will probably find out next week if she has the same as Sarah, but the doctor didn't put her on antibiotics yet, said will wait until the blood results come back.
