my little girl is nearly 3 months old and certain family members keep saying oh she is on 6oz bottles she will need weaned before 4 months, they say it at least everyday, i do not want to be ramming food down my babies throat because they say so, i feel very pressured too!! Im terrified i will catch them feeding her, i even have nightmares about it now, they gave her milky buttons for halloween she wasnt even 2 months old then (she never got to eat any, i took them away and my oh ate them), what will be next?? ahhhhh xxx

I know what you mean - I remember it well. Dont be pressured, you are her mum and you know best - be sure to tell them that! I know its hard xx

Aww bless you- Its awful when other people tell you what they think you should be doing with your baby All the experts recommend 6 months, I weaned Lewis earlier than that he was about 5 months. Lacey will let you know when she is ready, you'll start to see her putting everything in her mouth and watching every little thing you eat lol Dont wean her until you feel she is ready- Im sure she will let you know lol

It's awful how when you have a baby everyone has an opinion. I had this too from my MIL and I waited until Lauren was 5 1/2 months old. It was stressful having all the comments but I was firm and said that research is ongoing and the latest findings say that babies find it difficult to digest solid food before 5/6 mths.
I did hear that from a health care professional and it stopped the over opinionated few!

keep strong, you will know when Lacey is ready. Little ones are very good at letting you know what they want. I started weaning Harry last week and he was 21 weeks.

I remember it well! When you're pregnant, eveyone has an opinion as to what you should and shouldn't be doing, when you have the baby, everyone STILL has an opinion as to how you should be parenting! I found it infuriating and even stopped talking to people altogether because of it! Lacey's your child, not theirs, she'll let you know when she's ready for solids, not them! Who are they anyway?! My MIL/Mother used to feed their kids with gruel from the bottle and make a bigger whole in the teat so it would flow better, when we were only a few weeks old! Imagine doing that now, you just couldn't could you, the poor babe would choke! Scientists and healthcare professionals conducted a study of over 20000 babies, all over the world and found that generally, babies are biologically better prepared to eat solids at 6 months when their digestive systems are mature enough to digest food. Tell them that, and it will silence a few of the know-it-alls!

Find as much info about weaning as you can and ram it down their throats!!! Show them leaflets, magazine articles etc showing that the recommended age is now 6 months, so you're still a good few weeks before considering putting a spoon near Lacey's lips.
If you want to wean her before 6 months then that is YOUR choice, not theirs. Don't feel pressured into doing anything you don't want and if you catch them feeding her anything you threaten to stop them seeing her without you present until she is weaned by YOU. Might seem extreme in their eyes, but they have to respect you and the fact that you are Lacey's mum and know what is best for your child.

just say to them that she's your baby, and you will do what you think is right by her. don't let other people try to bully you into doing something you don't want to do, you are her mother and will always do your best for her.
