Geoff has surprised me this week with a holiday to Haven next Monday to celebrate the fact that it will be three years since I moved down to Windsor and we properly started our lives together. (Cue the awwwwws! ) We're staying in a caravan in Devon, and whilst I am really happy that we at least have a cheap holiday this year and get to have a break, I'm dreading the fact that Oscar will be in a room completely alien to him and without his cot! He has a very low double-bed in his room already (for when we sell the flat), and I have tried several times to get him to sleep in it both for his nap and at night, but he just keeps saying he wants to go in his cot. We will be buying him a toddler bed, but for now, he just seems quite happy and content in his cot. He obviously finds his cot comforting, but he is a big lad, and looks so squashed up! He seems to prefer his cot to his bed so I've left it for now.

Anyway, Oscar will have to sleep in a bed during the holiday, not his cot (travel cots are useless with him, as he is a beast!). Either that or none of us get any sleep for the whole week that we're there! :?

I'm rambling now, but what I wanted to ask is has anyone been to Haven and stayed in a caravan? If so, how did you find it?

We went to Haven in the summer. Lucas & Kian slept in the twin bedroom. the beds are very narrow & Lucas did fall out of it one night. You may be better off pushing them together so Oscar doesn't do the same. Zac slept in a travel cot so he was ok, but he's only a little dot & is used to sleeping in one when he occasionally stays overnight at my mom's. Tbh though, the boys were that shattered at the end of the day that they didn't really mind where they ended up sleeping! Zac wouldn't go to sleep in the travel cot cos we had to have it in the living area as that was the only place big enough for it, so obviously he could see everything that was going on. We just used to wait until he dropped off then put him in his cot.

I can't really think of any suggestions, but our boys were all so excited about being somewhere new that I don't think it mattered that they weren't in their own rooms. It was all just a big adventure for them! Fingers crossed Oscar will be fine xxx

We wen to Haven in May and didn't bother getting a travel cot for Jenny, she went in the single bed in the same room as Josh and because we had a 3 bed caravan I got the bedding for the other 2 spare beds and put it on the floor between the 2 beds so if she fell out she had a soft landing. It ended up she was in cuddling Josh and in the midddle of the night they both came through & slept in the double & I went into the single.

They were like lou's 3 so excited to be somewhere different and exciting they just crashed!!!

Hope you have a fab time Sel xx

Like Sal we used the spare duvet as padding on the floor when Lucas was little. No such luxury with Jaidyn tho' as we had 4 kids and no spare duvet
We used to go to Haven every single year (actually went to Devon 10 years ago!) and the kids all loved it. You can get a bed guard, but they are very narrow beds, so pushing them together is probably a better option.
WARNING THOUGH! It will be FREEZING in the mornings!!! Caravans are not known for their thermal properties in colder weather!!!! So make sure you have something warm for the mornings, don't forget slippers either. The louges heat up pretty quick with the gas fire, so it;s not cold for long. But getting out of bed is rather nippy!!!

We are just back from Parkdean camp in Nairn, which was lovely, but very cold as someone has mentioned. We had a 2 bed van and tried to put the travel cot in the kitchen but with all the vents in there it was blowing a gail and erin was freezing. So she slept in the living room area. One thing i will say is to watch the gas fires. They have a grill on them but not a proper fire guard so my two were able to poke there fingers through and if the fire had been on, would have got a nasty burn. If its haven there should be better entertainment than we had, one night they had men dressed as women, giving lap dances to another man ( try explaining that to a three year old  ) then another night one of the entertainment staff took a dislike to one lady who heckled him a bit and he made some passing jokes about spitting and swallowing. Not exactly family emtertainment!!!!

I just got back from our Haven break today. Erin slepts in a travel cot though, but we did have to turn the 2 singles on there side just to create enough room. I agree with the others though, the little ones will sleep as they will be that shattered.
It was also very cold in the mornings so remember your dressing gowns and slippers.
Have fun, but it is just nice to get away :)

Knew I could rely on you guys! Thank you all ladies! I'm hoping that he'll just flake out in the evenings and fall asleep in the bed/s and not miss his cot too much. Hopefully, he'll grow used to the idea and sleep in his big bed in his bedroom when we get back! Whatever happens. I can't really do much about it other than get him comfortable and safe and hope for the best!

Thank you all for the tips on the cold mornings too! Oscar and Geoff hate heat so they'll be fine (I'll take Oscar's quilt etc. with me though just in case), but I can't function when I'm cold! I literally freeze up!
