The Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Unit, at the UCL Institute of Child Health, is running a research project focused on how infants understand facial expressions of emotion at an early age and how this ability develops.
For us grown ups this is something that usually comes quite naturally: if we see someone smiling we know they are happy. But how do babies develop this ability? You and your child can help us answer this question!

We are looking for families with young infant scientists between 6 and 24 months to participate in this study and help us tackle these hard questions! The study involves visiting UCL for a quick and safe electroencephalogram recording session (~30 minutes), for which we offer a £5 compensation.

We know that your time is precious, but the participation of you and your child is essential for the advancement of knowledge on child development.

It is not necessary that the child is of the appropriate age right now, as we can set up the study visit to a later time, when your child reaches the appropriate age.

If you are interested in participating or have any questions please contact Fernando Ferreira-Santos at f.santos@ich.ucl.ac.uk or 020 7905 2652.
