I was just reading this article & was thinking about how many people actually tell their kids about gay parents?

I must admit that it's something I haven't talked about with mine yet as I think they're a bit to young to understand, although if Kian were to ask I would explain as best as I could (like I did with the "How are babies made" question  ).

I think it's ok as long as you do it with their age in mind but I think I'll wait until they ask me about it, rather than broaching the subject myself.

As for it being part of the curriculum... I think it all depends at what age they would start teaching kids about it & what kind of things it covered.

What are your views?

Never have and unless there is a reason to tell them, I won't. Obviously the older two have a complete understanding of homosexuality, but the younger two know there are many different ways of being a family and as they get older, they accept it as normal, just like single parent families are. Programmes like Eastenders brings homosexuality into the living room and in my eyes that is the perfect way to show that life happens that way, including the prejudices.

No chance of it being in my kids schools' curriculum, both Catholic schools, so homosexuality is a big no no, as is birth control. Those are both subjects that parents have to cover.

Ive explained it to my 9 yr old due to the fact my aunty who he has recently had alot more to do with is married to an other woman. He took it fairly well and as yet not really questioned it further. My 3 yr old has just accepted it without the need to have it explained but im sure the time will come. I think kids are more open and accept things alot easier than we think at times.

If it's in front of them they accept it without batting an eyelid. My Uncle was gay and it was just a known thing, everyone knew even though he never officially 'came out'. He just lived his life his way and we just knew. The fact that he lived with his partner in a two bedroom flat where the spare room was an office kinda made it obvious

Lewis is still far too young to understand or ask any questions about the subject.
I think it's right that it should be involved in curriculum, afterall you know what kids are like for asking questions lol
I would explain gay relationships to Lewis when he's old enough to understand. I'd rather him know rather than being confused about it.
