Jack is now 2 years old, and I finally realised that my feelings weren'tnormal. I am very irratable, tired all the time, no energy, feeling that I can't cope, grumpy, etc, so I went to the doctor on tuesday. Even though some days I feel fine, although they are usually the days I am at work. Even my husband didn't know how I felt, as I did the majority of my crying and was angry while he was at work. I am now on medication, although it will take a while to work. Is having PND something to keep quiet? Should I be ashamed and not tell anyone or should I tell family and friends? I have told my husband.

Sorry to hear youve been feeling like this Audrey.
Its completley up to you as to who you want to tell. Some people prefer having others know so they have a supportive group around them, others deal with it on their own. You should definitley not be ashamed, its not something to feel ashamed over at all. You friends and family would probably appreciate knowing so that they can help you out.
Are you just on medication? Has doctor advised any counselling?

Just the tablets. They are called Citalopram and I have 20mg a day. I think my pnd started after I had the second baby, but I didn't get any help until now as lately I have been very annoyed.

There good, and its a particularly low dose too. Will take a bit to kick in but they will pick you up soon enough.

Hi Audrey, it's entirely up to you who you tell, you don't have to tell anyone if you don't want to but please don't feel ashamed or that you need to hide it. PND is more common than people think, and by posting here you've helped any other mums on the forum who have PND feel less alone. Given how many changes a woman's body go through during and after pregnancy, it's a wonder that all mums don't have PND. I know it's not quite the same, but the drop in hormones during and after the menopause (which also happens after pregnancy) can result in the same symptoms as depression, tiredness, tearfulness, etc.
You've done so well just getting yourself to the doctor and taking your medication, and I hope you're feeling more your normal self soon. I think you're amazing, having 4 lovely children and managing such a very busy life. (((hugs)))
