We only started weaning on sunday so we're literally at the squishing food stage but hopefully he'll start actually getting some inside at some point

if i was doing baby lead weaning he'd be eating now!! and he's only 12 weeks

Why don't you try him? Didn't you start Lucie at that age? Never did her any harm. Let me know if you try him!

i did but the guidelines were so different then.it's not recommended until they're 6 months now...it was different all those years ago

i started weanin callum at around 14 weeks as the milk was not enough. when i spoke to my hv she said it is the guidline for 6 months but if i felt callum was ready to go for it.
i think its important to go by mothers instinct and the individual child's needs.
unfortunatly callum wouldnt take to breast feedin and was on hungry baby milk at 3 weeks!!!!!!!
when he was still showin sings of hunger i started weanin him slowly- he is now a really good eater and loves his food

I did try this with Archie as all my NCT mates gave me advice, but he couldn't quite manage it, dunno if it due to him being prem?
He eats more finger food now than mush!

A friend of mine has posted some really cute pics of her lo doing babyled weaning on fb...

we did about half half , I did allow ds to feed himself finger foods especially banana , but he was one of those babies that just put everything in his mouth and gave it a chew. A friend of mine's baby boy never put anything to his mouth and she had to show him to put the banana in his hand to his mouth. Suppose all babies are different.

The reason why the who guidelines are 6 months + is because a babies digestive tract is not mature enough to cope with food other than milk before that and you risk them developing allergies to ordinary foods if you introduce solids before this time.

Jacob loves his food but you wouldn't believe the mess he gets in....probably my fault for giving him stuff in sauces though
