Just a quick update....

She is still on medication for her lung infection, but seems to be doing well. Her brothers were able to see her today, although only for around 5 minutes, but I was happy that they were able to finally get to see her.

I am now able to get out of bed as my uti has almost cleared up. I'm still feeling a bit sore and weak from the birth, but I am getting better. I hope to be able to go home at the end of the week, but will be coming back each day to be with Hollie. In the next few weeks I'll be able to feed and change her, with help. The best part though will be when I'm finally able to hold her.

She sounds like she is getting stronger by the day :D

Do you know when you will be getting out of hospital?

She is beginning to put on a bit of weight... 4oz so far. I know it's not much but it's in the right direction.

I am now completely off the medication for my uti, so I am getting home on Friday, once I've seen the consultant.

Hollie will still be in here for a few more weeks, but I hope it won't be for too much longer. In the next couple of weeks, she is going to be gradually taken off oxygen, to see how well she copes in breathing on her own. If she can breathe unaided OK, then I'll be able to hold her. The lung infection is clearing up, but she's still on steroids to strengthen her lungs and a feeding tube.

Glad you getting better chick, and wee Hollie sounds like a real fighter. She is in the best place, and very soon you will be able to hold her.
Know how stressful it is having a wee one in neonatal, with others at home. Keep you chin up though.
She'ff be home before you know it, wrapping everyone round her wee finger cos she can :)
xxx

Thought I would just keep the updates in this bit, to save putting it elsewhere.

Well, I am now back home and although it feels great, it's not the same without Hollie but that feeling will soon go when she is back.

I'm fine - still a little sore, but taking it easy. I was home for about 2 hours when Stuart took the boys in to see her. When they came back, Charlie and Joshua had the biggest smiles ever as they are now beginning to feel like big brothers! Then Stuart said he had some news for me. I was really expecting to hear the worst.... But it was good news. He told me that she is now on 50% oxygen as she is attempting to breathe on her own [smilie=clap.gif] The tubes will be changed tomorrow to smaller ones, so it will be a lot easier when I see her tomorrow.

I had also just come back home, when one of my friends came round. I'd not seen her for a while and she'd heard about Hollie so came round to see how we were doing. It was good to catch up as it took my mind off things for a bit. She's also expecting her first in 4 weeks, which I had no idea about. I'm really pleased for her, as she's been trying for a few years.

It's great to be home and in my own bed. I am now counting down the weeks until Hollie is back home...
