Weaning's going fairly well with Jack, I started him on meat, fish and dairy at 6 months and he eats pretty much everything I put in front of him, even salmon and cod which smell horrible to me (I am veggie though but I do like the smell of the beef casserole!) He's still on 2 meals a day - want to put him on 3 soon but not yet as he doesn't drink enough milk as it is (about 18-22oz a day including any milk in some breakfasts and won't drink any more than that)
The books say to start introducing finger foods around 6/7 months and also some small lumps. Tried twice with a couple of TINY lumps and he gags and throws up so I'm scared to try him again, I don't think he's ready. I think he panics.
I can't imagine giving him finger foods as I'm convinced he wil gum off a chunk and choke!

Do you remember what ages you started your LO's on finger foods?

With Ella she was already on stage 3 food by 7 months - but then again she started weaning at 16 weeks cos I couldn't keep up with her demand for food.
This pair are still on purees, but on 3 meals a day. And they were trying to steal my soup and pudding tonight at dinner. If this keeps up, I will be a size 0 with the 3 of stealing my food

Thanks. I think I'll start seriously trying him on finger foods around 8 months too so hopefully he'll feel ready. Tried him on a bit of soggy biscuit the other day to see if he would eat that, but he just crushed it in his hand haha.
