Ella is getting worse with the bl***Y tantrums. Up until now she has been ok, not great admittidly but OK. Now she is hellish. It is nothing to do with a lack of language - Ella has loads of language and an excellent level of comprehension (I've taught kids in P1 and P2 at school with less comprehension than Ella) so it is not to do with understanding or frustration at not being to communicate. It is simply because I dare to say NO to her.
Today's tantrums: 1. because I dared to have some breakfast and not play with her. 2. was because I told her off for sitting on the twins' faces to waken them up. 3. (and not even at 10.30 yet) was because I was doing something in the kitchen and not playing her leappad. 4. because she had no food left for her pet on leappad (my fault apparently), 5&6 all happened for some forgettable reason before we left for twin club at 11.30 7. in the car cos I made her wear her seatbelt FFS!
8. on the way home no idea what for, and 9. then from then (2pm) till about 3.40 it was a massive one cos I asked her to go for a much needed sleep (she was dead on her feet.) 10. at my mums to relay that I had asked her to go for a sleep. And to make things complete a lovely 11. at bedtime there :( because we said it was bedtime and time to put her jammies on.
Am I really saying No to her over unreasonable things. Other things to set off tantrums lately:-
1. No you cannot run about the town centre naked (although clever girl for undressing yourself)
2.No you cannot run away from me (Grannie or Auntie Margaret) or run onto that road
3. No you cannot just eat chocolate all day.
4. No you cannot sit in the front seat of the car with no seatbelt on whilst I drive.
You get the general idea.

God help me - Abbie is already a diva at 9 months am dreading her as a terrible 2 /3 :(

Rant over - am away to eat a massive bar of chocolate and stuff the fact i really need to shift the baby weight. Chocolate for my sanity is essential right now
xx

oh dear! im betting shes a sweet and angelic teenager!

I guess you have tried the usual, reward good behaviour, ignore naughty and something like a naughty step or star chart? i know shes young but obviously a clever little girl,
hopefully nursery will tire her out when she starts and shell be too tired to tantrum (that said k was worse when she started)

Lewis has his tantrums too. Luckily reading this they don't sound as bad as the ones Ella Is having. His are usually over things he can't have or do. I refused to buy him a car in Asda and he screams and tries to chuck himself out the trolley- that type of behaviour.
If were at home he gets put on the naughty step and made to stay there until he's thought about what he's done and usually 9 times out of 10 he comes and says sorry afterwards and give me a kiss and a cuddle. I hate tantrums when your out with them and people look and tut as if there some flipping expert in children loudly express how you should stop a tantrum. Yes love I don't need your advice! Makes me angry :x

I have to admit Lewis has calmed down loads since starting going to nursery even though it's only 1 afternoon a week. All the staff comment on how he's no bother and they very rarely need to intervene and tell him off. If that's the theory he will be an angel when he starts full time nursey lol. Yeah right

Only advice I can give really is keep persevering with what your doing, and maybe she will calm down when she starts nursery.

Was it a full moon and I missed it? Grant was the same on Sunday. I couldn't find one thing to be positive about to give him a reward sticker all day. Husband and I were taking it in shifts to tell him off.

The terrible twos make way for the therapy needing threes.
