Ritchie had his 1st induction day at local primary school yesturday and he had a great time. He seems to be really looking forward to it which is such a shock as there are still days he needs settling into nursery.
anyway, any tips on how to prepare him for school come end of august?
I have a concern about him eating too, hes such a fussy eater and wont eat sandwiches at all. He will have bread and butter with cheese seperate, doesnt like pancakes, muffins etc so im stumped at what hes going to have for lunch. He wont eat potato and only eats peas or roated carrots for veg so school dinner may not be a good idea. He is a great fruit eater so will load his luch box with that.
What doe everyone else give their kids for snack and lunch? looking for inspiration :P

hi hun when michael started school I put him on school dinners everyday he cried going to school it turned out he didnt like the dinners I put him on packed lunches and he was fine ever since he has what he eats for his lunch at home go with what you think he will eat and lots of fruit will be great and the school will be happy with that
he will be fine hun just dont overload his lunch box as i know in our school they try and get the kids to eat everything and they want to go and play xxx

thank you hunnie, that sounds like very good advise. will try to go with the flow and hope he settles without many tears. daunting though when your babies are all grown up and starting a new chapter in his/her life. <3

I was exactly the same as you are last sept.Louis was one of the youngest and looked so fragile when he started school but loves it :)

He has packed lunch and he got awarded last term for his healthy lunch box lol .
he has haslet or cheese or ham sandwiches. sometimes i give him bread and butter and the meat on the side. a small tub of jelly, cherry toms, cucumber, strawberries, small packet of crisps or crackerbread, a small chocolate.. sounds loads but only give him small quantities

mine are all summer babies so have been the youngest in the intake, they all just turned 4 when they started.

i agree dont overload the lunchbox, the dinnerladies do try to make them eat as much as poss,i made this mistake with charb,he wouldnt say he was full so would sit there until end of lunch, not wanting the last of the food, bless him, learnt by that and give him less now.

thi is exactly what i am worried about, Ritie has never been a great eater, he usually eats small portions every few hours. I will defo go with maybe 1 round of bread with cheese seperate and frube yogurt and maybe some strawberries. It will take him forever to eat all that anyway but i dont want the dinner ladies pushing him to eat as he will become upset and would even make himself sick. I should really have a word with the school about my concerns and just explin that when hes done......hes done. I really dont want him pushed to eat more than he can manage. :?

I'd try and start introducing the odd new thing to him over the summer and see what he makes of it. But definitely stick with what you know he will eat in his lunchbox, with maybe the odd new thing every now and then.
