The pros and cons of UTC, which used to be affectionately known as GMT or Greenwich Mean Time, as the really old among us referred to it, are many. DST is once again in the history book for 2008…. what’s DST, I hear you all mutter! However, in my thoughts, the one big pro is that because the evenings are darker, there is more ‘think time’, and this therefore takes you back to warmth and sunshine. It’s like a sort of withdrawal symptom… Cold Turkey… what is the old saying? Absence makes the heart grow fonder, or something like that. Earlier today I was thinking about our holiday back in the summer of this year. It was simply a case of finding something or somewhere warmer, sunnier, and where we could indulge ourselves in a little of what we enjoy.
On this occasion we broke with tradition and actually booked a ‘package holiday’ – shock, horror! In the end, we were more than pleasantly surprised though! You can have a read about our trip here.
Coincidentally this year the dark evenings have heralded the arrival of some pretty chilly conditions too. Mrs C is pacing around saying how cold it is. I wonder if there’s a psychological link between having less daylight during the working day and one’s perception of cold.
To add insult to injury, we’re off to Edinburgh this weekend, where I’m sure it will be even colder still.
Some may have read on our site that we are going to be exhibiting at The Manchester Baby Show in Manchester Central next month. It’s the first show we’ve done this year, but we’re looking forward to it and hope to see some of our regular visitors there. We had a great time up at Glasgow last year, so why not pop up and say hello!
