Competition Smiles

Win some competitionsAs we all know having a baby can be an expensive time!

During pregnancy you are spending money on decorating the nursery or buying a pram, then when the baby arrives there are clothes, toys and nappies, and the costs keep mounting as your child gets older. So why not try and make things a little easier and enter some competitions to win some of the things you will need.
At Competition Hunter, their members are constantly listing new competitions that are perfect for pregnant women or families with a new born (you can find them all in the Mother and Baby competitions section).

One of the easiest ways to win a competition is to use your baby’s face! You know your baby is cute so now is the time to show the rest of the world, and enter photo competitions. These are competitions people tend to avoid as they think they are too complicated or fussy to enter, but really they can be simple.

Here are some general tips for taking winning photos.

  • You don’t have to spend a fortune on an expensive camera – even mobile phones have decent digital cameras nowadays.
  • Get down to your babies level – you want the whole of your babies face so try and get eye contact.
  • Try and get some emotion from your baby, there is nothing cuter than a laughing baby.
  • Use natural light; even if you are indoors avoid using your flash, as they can wash out your child’s face.
  • Don’t make the shoot too complicated; avoid a fussy background or too many props. The focus should be all about your baby.
  • Try to avoid shoots including other people, as we mentioned it should be all about your baby.

Remember to have fun; even if you don’t win you will have some great photos of your baby.

Easter Competitions

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for competitions in TheBabyWebsite offices. It seems that every other PR company around wants a competition before Easter. I suppose it is the first big school holiday after Christmas, the sun will be deemed to be shining by then and hay must be made while afore-mentioned sun shines!

Apparently though, mums and dads are getting it all wrong during school holidays. It would seem that whilst we’re all fretting about where to take our kids, what to do with them and how the hell to pay for all the entertaining, all the children really want is to stay at home and play or chill!

Canvas Holidays

Off to chill with Canvas

It’s this ‘Over-Organising and Over-Timetabling‘ thing again and kids are well fed up of it.

There are no big plans here for an Easter getaway but we have booked a holiday in Holland with Canvas for June. If you want to try and Win a Canvas Holiday then have a go here!

Planning and Burning

Is it Thursday already?  Time flies on The Baby Website.

I don’t know why, but everything seems to be rush-rush at the moment.  The more we do, the more seems to need to be done.

We have had to apologise to some of our users during the last week for the fact that some of their Baby Blog images went astray when we migrated the site to the new server.  In a strange sort of way, we managed to get off very lightly, because the old server that the site was previously hosted on suffered a catastrophic hard disk failure the day after we switched.  It is literally only the last few images to be transferred that went missing.  Phew!

Watch out for some new stuff in the next few weeks.  There’s an Ovulation Calendar on the way for you ladies who are in the process of planning ahead, and some great new competitions too.

What about events of the week?  The funniest so far was watching a neighbour trying to extinguish a burning tree in his front garden with a garden hose.  We were wondering whose barbeque was on fire because of all the smoke.  Then after a quick look around, the culprit was found.  I think it was a case of “what happens if we put a match here?” by a group of kids.  I bet they will all be wearing clean pants tomorrow!
