Former Cold Feet star Hermione Norris has given birth to a baby girl, Hero. It is the actress's second child with husband Simon Wheeler. Their son, Wilf, was born in 2004.
And for those of us who didn't know already....girls prefer pink and and boys think blue is best. It seems that neuro-scientists at Newcastle University have discovered why girls like pink so much! Women are apparently genetically predisposed to prefer colours of a pinkish hue. Professor Anya Hurlbert asked 208 men and women to select their preferred colour from a selection of coloured rectangles. Women leaned towards reddish and pink hues while men preferred blue. 'Evolution may have driven females to prefer reddish colours - reddish, ripe fruits, healthy, reddish faces,' explains the academic, who admitted to the Telegraph she'd ' once splurged on an incredible pink briefcase.'
Domain names come before baby names It seems like the latest big thing in parenting is to give your baby his or her own website. Many parents in The States are choosing their child's name based on whether the domain name is available. Hmmmmm??!!
Myleene Klass has given birth three weeks early to a baby girl called Ava. Ava weighed in at 5lbs 9ozs. Myleene's spokesman said that the former Hear'Say star had a problem-free labour and is doing well.
Yawning really is contagious and the more empathetic you are, the more likely you are to yawn if someone else does. Research carried out in The USA showed that autistic children and adults were less likely to yawn if they watched a film of people yawning and that women were more likely than men to react too!
Hartlepool mother of three Amanda Eclerton gave birth to a 14lb 7oz baby with only gas and air for pain relief. After her six hour labour, Amanda, told reporters; 'I was told he was going to be big but when they handed him to me he was huge. I knew he wasn't going to be normal because the birth was agony, but he was worth it.' Amanda lost nearly 3 litres of blood during the labour and it took 4 midwives to help deliver baby Shaune.
Ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton and her boyfriend Jade Jones are celebrating the birth of their first baby - a boy called Beau who weighed 7lb 15 oz. Jade said ' I'm over the moon. He is absolutely brilliant, and both baby and Emma are doing fine. In fact Emma is tucking into some flapjacks and Coca-Cola as we speak. We are both absolutely delighted and can't wait to take Beau home. When he was asked why they chose that particular name, he said ' He is a very lovely boy. His name is French for handsome and he is definitely very handsome. He is just gorgeous......The birth still feels like a minute ago. It's an amazing feeling, which I can't describe.'
Almost half of all due dates are inaccurate. How many babies actually arrive on their due date? Not many eh? An astonishing 46% of due dates are up to ten days out according to a survey by Family Investments. The company surveyed 530 mums and also found that the average amount of maternity leave taken before the birth is just two weeks.

Mum of two Gwyneth Paltrow has now finished her maternity leave and is returning to the big screen. The award-winning actress, mum to three-year-old Apple and Moses, 15 months, says; "It was a real blessing for me to get to have time off and have kids......I really needed that break and I've come back to the whole world with such an appreciation for it." Wouldn't it be lovely if other employers were so understanding and just let us all go back to work when we 'felt ready'?
