Figures released by Abbey a couple of years ago showed that families expect to spend an average of £741 keeping children occupied during the summer holidays. Apparently £741 if anything is a conservative amount as parents admit to going over their budget by around 40% each year.
So, if you're one of those who hasn't got round to saving up for the holidays yet, Abbey has come up with a few ways of keeping children happy for free:
A museum visit
Kite flying
Driveaway art using chalk
Cookery lessons
Making bubbles with washing up liquid
