KATE FORD SETS THE 2007 GREAT BIG PARTY FOR LITTLE PEOPLE CHALLENGE
Over 40,000 toddlers and children under the age of eight are being challenged to throw their own great big party with a little help from Coronation Street actress, Kate Ford. Baby Lifeline - the unique mother and baby charity, has called upon its vice president, Kate Ford, to challenge the UK’s nurseries, primary schools and children’s groups to simultaneously hold a great big party on 26 April, during Baby Lifeline’s National Mother and Baby Week®.
The Great Big Party for Little People, in partnership with main sponsor, Fisher-Price, aims to raise over £500,000 to support its work in the maternity sector caring for pregnant women and their babies. As well as purchasing vital equipment for maternity and special care baby units, nationwide specialist training for healthcare professionals is provided.
Kate Ford said: “This is a charity close to my heart as I was a premature baby myself and fully appreciate the hard work that goes into maternity care. This is a fun and exciting initiative for young children to be involved with so I hope the nation’s nurseries, primary schools and many other children’s groups will come on board and throw a party to celebrate the Gift of Life!”
Judy Ledger, Baby Lifeline’s founder and chief executive added: “It is a great honour to have Kate on board and we are delighted that her support will undoubtedly help our future mothers and their babies across the UK.
”Now in its second year, the Great Big Party for Little People is a fun way of involving young children to raise funds for future generations, and with over 15,000 children taking part in our inaugural party last year, the drive is on for this year’s event to be even bigger and better!”
To get involved in the biggest children’s party of the year, register online at Baby Lifeline or by calling 02476 422 135 for your party packs.
Each pack costs just £7.50 and contains many exciting items including fundraising ideas, colouring charts, song sheets, stickers and healthy kids recipes from celebrity chef, Tony Tobin. The best fundraisers will also be in with the chance to win some fantastic prizes from Fisher-Price’s Little People collection, Luxury Family Hotels, and many more!

Baby Lifeline – the national mother and baby charity established in 1981 after Judy Ledger, now the charity’s chief executive, suffered the personal loss of three premature babies. Baby Lifeline is a unique charity offering the best care and support to pregnant mothers and newborn babies all over the UK. Over a ten-year period the charity raised £1.5 million and purchased vital equipment for three hospitals in Coventry and Warwickshire – where the charity still has its headquarters. Not surprisingly, Baby Lifeline’s influence and work subsequently spread nationwide and to date, has contributed over £8 million to Britain’s maternity hospitals and services. This money has purchased vital equipment and helped facilitate specialist training for maternity professionals.
