Tatty Bumpkin
Sam Petter is a third generation (all three female) organic cobnut farmer and Rick Stein Food Hero.A couple of years ago this was her main source of income, and yoga was merely a hobby for her. Sam learnt yoga a couple of years ago before the inspiration for Tatty Bumpkin had arrived. At the time she was struggling with the revelation that she would be unable to conceive so began yoga as a distraction. Soon after beginning her yoga training Sam did fall pregnant and Tatty Bumpkin was created 18 months after her son was born. Now the company is providing baby and child yoga classes on a nationwide scale, and also provides training for out of work mothers who can learn at a very affordable rate how to be yoga teachers then teach locally.
Tatty Bumpkin provides fair-trade and organic clothes, toys and accessories for young children as well as the increasingly popular national Tatty Bumpkin baby yoga classes.

Sam has a very strong ethical and environmental philosophy as well as putting a lot of emphasis on the vital bond between child and parent.
"My journey from the beginning to now - the creator of Tatty Bumpkin, has been sudden and surprising! Six years ago, I was told I would not be able to have children - that was the start... I went away to train as a yoga teacher as a form of escape - I did become pregnant following this, and spent the next 18 months teaching baby yoga, and breastfeeding. Whilst pushing the pram around the orchard of our organic farm, Tatty Bumpkin manifested itself, and within a week of finishing breast feeding, Tatty was born fully fledged!
Tatty Bumpkin has allowed me to access my inner child, something that 6 years ago I never thought I'd find. Through the training we do, we help mums to train and get back to work, but also the mums and children who attend the classes to enjoy a mutual, bonding experience. We produce organic and fair trade products which are in line with my very strong anti pesticide ethos, and this follows through with the organic farm where we live.
Now I can see that there is a greater purpose and feel proud to have turned such a negative into a positive - I hope this an inspiration for the many other women who find themselves in similar situations.
Stand by the giggle tree and laugh out loud!"

INTERESTING FACTS
As a matter of interest, Tatty Bumpkin are one of the first in the country to introduce Bamboo clothes and bedlinen. Bamboo is an amazing fabric. It is grown without pesticides, as it contains its own, natural pesticides which repels pests. It is 100% biodegradable, Anti UVA, anti-baterical, and very cool against the skin. We have had children sleeping through the night as soon as they got their bamboo bed linen. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on the planet, so very sustainable, it also contributes 10% more oxygen.
WHY BUY ORGANIC?

It's good for your child.
Organic products contain fewer chemicals and are far less toxic than many
conventional products.
It benefits growers.
Farmers growing cotton organically are able to reduce their overheads and the likelihood of getting into debt.
