Make Time for The Eve Appeal - Join Lorraine Kelly And Host A Tea Party For Ovarian Cancer Research

March 2007 is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and The Eve Appeal charity is asking women all over the country to Make Time for The Eve Appeal (TEA) by holding a tea party to raise crucial funds for ovarian cancer research. LK Today presenter Lorraine Kelly, an ambassador for the charity, is spearheading the Make Time for TEA campaign and has already designed her own tea cup for the charity.

The Eve Appeal has produced a pack of ideas on how to make your tea party simple, fun and most important of all, an effective fundraiser. Afternoon tea at home, tea and cakes in the office, even a tea dance in a local hall – all could help speed the research that could lead to early diagnosis of the disease that is aptly called ‘the silent killer’.

Lorraine Kelly says, “It is so easy to take part and to help out. Just put on the kettle and make a cup of tea. What could be simpler? It won't take too much time or effort and you really could make a difference".

Says Chief Executive of The Eve Appeal, Alex Ford, herself a survivor of ovarian cancer, “We’ve called our campaign Make Time for The Eve Appeal because our campaign is twofold – awareness and fundraising. We want women to make time to think about ovarian cancer and to become more aware of their bodies so that they can seek medical help when they need to. And on a wider level we want women to work together and make time to make money for The Eve Appeal campaign, which is helping to fund a 10 year research programme which seeks, within the next five years, to have identified the tools to cut ovarian cancer deaths by 50%.”

If you would like to hold a TEA party in support of The Eve Appeal during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, call 020 7380 6902 for your free information and ideas pack or visit www.eveappeal.org.uk.

The low survival rate has not improved over the past thirty years, and awareness and funding remains low.
