Easy Fertility Blood Tests
A revolutionary new blood test has today been launched which offers a fast and easy test for female fertility.

As modern women are increasingly postponing childbirth to later in their lives – more and more now having children in their 30’s - assessing their fertility at an early age has become crucial for family planning.

Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is a new blood test developed following clinical research which measures ovarian function – i.e. how your ovaries are working. It is more accurate than a simple oestrogen test and is not available on the NHS.

The test can help reassure woman about their current and medium term fertility - vital when deciding when to try for children, especially for women who work and want to plan ahead. It can also help to predict the menopause and also help judge possible IVF success.

The blood test is currently available from www.canigetpregnant.co.uk; a new website from Britain’s unique gynaecological service GynaeCheck. The test kit can be ordered directly from the website while the patient makes an appointment separately at a local GP or nurse’s practice to have a sample taken. Alternatively GynaeCheck members can undertake the test at a discounted price which can be carried out at the annual consultation wherever convenient in the UK.

AMH levels can help as a marker for ovarian age. The hormone levels decrease the older you get, as do the number of eggs within your ovaries. The AMH measures the number of eggs still within your ovaries and therefore can give you an indication to the time left to have children – the ultimate in family planning.

GynaeCheck is a female healthcare company that specialises in promoting female healthcare and offers feedback and advice via email or telephone. This is achieved primarily through expert gynaecological consultations supplemented with a wide range of medical educational material. GynaeCheck has an extensive network of gynaecologists based in the United Kingdom who treat service members in accredited private hospitals.

Dr. Ellis Downes, Consultant Gynaecologist and Chief Executive of GynaeCheck, commented: “The AMH test is one of the most accurate and convenient measurements of a woman’s ovarian pool currently available in the UK. By offering it through GynaeCheck it will now be possible for women to assess their fertility with ease and expediency and ultimately provide peace of mind”.
