Ellis Downes is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Chase Farm Hospital Enfield, North London.He has a large and successful private practice. He trained in Leicester, Nottingham and Leeds before arriving in Enfield 7 years ago. He is interested in all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology particularly minimal access surgery and Urogynaecology. His research interests include new medical applications at reducing hysterectomy rates.
He has extensive commercial experience and has worked on a consultancy basis with several medical device companies including non-executive main board experience. He is asked to lecture and operate widely both nationally and internationally and has recently helped organise a major international medical conference. Ellis is also an award winning medical journalist, has written for ‘The Sunday Times’ and is a past Daily Mirror Doctor. He has extensive experience of television appearances ranging from Watchdog to Richard and Judy.
Ellis is married with 2 children; outside medicine he enjoys family time and flying light aircraft.
