New Mothers Need Time Out
We all know that looking after a baby isn’t easy but research released today has revealed that shattered new mothers get only a shocking 62 minutes ‘me time’ per day. That’s a culmination of only seven hours a week out of a possible 168! More worryingly, the survey carried out by Weight Watchers Online, found that one in three admitted to having absolutely no time at all and barely scrape four hours sleep each night – less for those who breastfeed.
The results provided a surprise for new mums, as before giving birth, just one in ten women had worried about the loss of ‘me time’, the biggest worry (42%) was the sheer lack of experience of caring for a newborn.

With just an hour to themselves each day, who’s going to have time to think about healthy eating and exercise? In fact, it takes women an average of 15 months to lose the weight they put on whilst pregnant. It’s therefore not a shock that the poll of 1100 mums surveyed by Tickbox, found that one in five hadn’t shifted the weight three years on.
Following a simple easy-to-follow healthy eating programme whilst taking regular exercise is acknowledged to be the most sensible way to lose weight. Nonetheless, many women prefer to join a local slimming club where they can get information and motivation whenever they need it. When a mother has little time in the day, there is a temptation to grab fast food, or comfort eat due to tiredness. Online diet clubs like Weight Watchers Online can help stay-at-home mums to avoid these pitfalls. There are numerous articles across the website to provide new mums with safe guidelines and tips on how to lose the baby weight - such as waiting until after the all important six week check. If you have a lot of weight to lose, you should ideally visit your GP to chat through your programme before you start.
