Breastfeeding A Baby With A Cold
A baby with a cold finds feeding a bit difficult as he can't suck and swallow at the same time.

Babies are no different to us and feel a little under the weather when they have a cold and a blocked nose anyway. When he is trying to feed, baby may become a bit frustrated and tearful. Sometimes a baby with a cold will be sick or appear to choke.

Generally, however, a breastfed baby with a cold seems to find it easier to feed than a formula-fed baby. It would seem that breastfeeding allows mucus to drain down the back of the baby's throat.

Ideally, you should try to feed the baby more often, as this will help to clear baby's nose and settle him to sleep. Obviously breastfeeding will also comfort your baby while he's distressed and under the weather.
