A Spa Break at The Butlin's Ocean Hotel Bognor Regis

Lee and I have recently come back from a short spa break at Butlin's Ocean Hotel in Bognor Regis.

I didn't really know what to expect because I’d heard mixed views about Butlins but we were pleasantly surprised!

We stayed in an Atlantis room which would be perfect for a family of four as it has a separate 'Kids' Den' with two single beds. The rooms were spacious and stylishly decorated - no complaints there! We loved the mood lighting and the little balcony (there's also a flat screen TV but we didn't watch a lot of it because we were

so busy doing other things!). We also loved the fact that each time the cleaners went into the room they left a towel in the shape of an animal - just had to take a picture of this elephant towel!

We were amazed by how much was going on around the place. There was literally something for everyone - funfair rides, go- carting, a climbing wall, crazy golf, a swimming pool and plenty of restaurants, cafes and pubs. We had a meal out in Turner's restaurant, which was set up

by Michelin star chef Brian Turner. The food was delicious and not too expensive either.

We were not, however, impressed with the food provided by Kaleidoscope restaurant as part of the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast deal. The dinner was reminiscent of a school canteen - cold potatoes, congealed gravy and chicken that was more bone than meat. Breakfast was slightly better - we enjoyed it more the second day because we had sussed out what was edible and what was not!

The first day we arrived we headed straight to the Ocean Spa where we were lucky enough to have the whole spa area to ourselves for two hours. I really liked the spa (although the orange plastic chairs were not really in-keeping with the rest of the

place, which had a really nice spa-y feeling). The spa included a lovely warm pool where you could turn on various bubbles and jets, a sauna, steam room, Disco showers (music plays as you shower!), an outdoor hot tub and a snow room. The snow room was something a bit different but way too cold for me! Lee hadn't really been looking forward to going to the spa but he ended up really enjoying it and he couldn't wait to go back the next day!

It was a bit busier the next day but we still had a really relaxing time. After another two hours in the spa we were booked in for treatments. Lee had a Full Body Comfort Lomi Lomi Hawaiian Massage. He says "It was amazing. I felt so relaxed and so cleansed afterwards. All the staff were lovely and made me feel really welcome."

I had a Mini Massage followed by a Radiant Revival Brightening Facial. I love having treatments done and this one was so good I kept dropping off because I was so relaxed! Here is a list of all the treatments available at the Ocean Spa. I really would recommend having one. To

finish the day we had a few relaxing drinks sitting outside the Beachcomber Inn.

We only spent two nights at the hotel and when we left we both agreed that we could easily have spent a week there. It feels like we only just scratched the surface of what is available to do at Butlins.
