Run a bath, pop on a face pack... and relax! Beauty editor Kim Jones suggests products to pamper and unwind with on a winter's night... The early (and suddenly colder) dark nights mean just one thing when you've had a hard day's work and/or parenting: a warm bath, pyjamas at the ready and a quick spot of skin pampering too.
First, the bath. You've got to have bubbles or oil that smells just divine. And I particularly like to submerge myself in something that promises to help ease everyday aches and pains (whether from carrying your little ones or too much shopping!) My favourite discovery of the moment is Maison Boo Body Boutique Organic Foaming Bath for Aches & Pains, £11 from www.feelunique.com. It's a delicate mix of Eucalyptus and Black Pepper to soothe muscular stiffness together with lavender, which relaxes both the body and the mind. All products in the Maison Boo Body Boutique range are designed for expectant or new mothers. They're blended on a farm in rural Staffordshire and are free from SLS, synthetic fragrances and parabens.
Do take note, though that, because of the essential oil content in this bath, it's safe to use only three months or later into pregnancy. When you're in the bath, and the steam has opened up your facial pores, it's the perfect opportunity to hark back to your teenage years and indulge your skin with a deep-treating face pack. The good news is that formulations have come a long way since the muddy stuff I used to trowel on when I was younger (which would subsequently go rock hard on my skin, itch, then flake off and leave it feeling dehydrated). I recommend Ahava's Purifying Mud Mask - it contains a gentle but
For a gently moisturising boost, another of my favourite face treats has to be the 'Aura' Manuka Honey Mask from New Zealand natural beauty company Antipodes. It has a creamy, luscious texture that smells of delicious vanilla pods, mandarin and of course, skin-loving
Finish off your facial pampering with Antipodes Divine Face Oil. It contains organic avocado oil and rosehip, melts into the skin within minutes, and in scientific tests, was shown to stimulate type 1 collagen by up to 51%.
