Slimmer in the Spotlight - Joanne
A bit about me.... I'm 24 from Crawley in West Sussex. I'm mum to Josh who is 5 years old.

Welcome to Slimmer in the Spotlight! This time we hear from fantastic slimmer Joanne, as she reveals what losing weight would mean to her, and her delicious suggestion for a potato and leek bake.

My favourite film....has to be all of the Twilight movies! Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner make it so hard for me not to like them!

My dream holiday.....would be Costa Teguise in Lanzarote, because it is so beautiful out there. The sun shining down on the volcanoes is a really breathtaking sight and the beaches are amazing.

If I won the lottery........I'd buy me and my son a lovely two bedroom house, take a trip to DisneyWorld Florida and of course, I'd give my mum a million :)

If I were an animal...........I'd be a dolphin, because they are such beautiful creatures and they always look so happy!

My weight loss goal....I'd like to lose about 5 stone

I started putting on weight .......Well I've always had a few extra pounds on me so I can't say when I specifically started gaining the weight. After having my son I was putting it on more than usual.

I want to lose weight......Mainly for my son. I want to be able to run around with him and I don't want him to be picked on for having a 'fat mummy'. So I want to get into shape and go from 'fat mummy' to 'yummy mummy'! I also want to lose it for my health. I want to live as long as possible with no complications. And finally, I'd like to go into THAT shop and buy gorgeous tops and dresses like my friends do. At the moment, it disheartens me when I go in and realise I can't wear any of their stuff!

Top Slimmer's Tip

My top tip for other slimmers is.....don't expect the weight to go just like that. These things take time and if the weight is lost too quickly, you're more likely to re-gain it rather than keep it off. Most importantly, stay positive and keep motivated! I find the best way to do this is to talk to other people who may be in the same boat as you are - share tips, ideas and support.

My favourite food....Ooh that's a toughie! Sweet potato mash is a definite favourite of mine at the moment. Since being on the Slimavite plan, I'm discovering new recipes all the time.

My favourite recipe is....Potato and leek bake - it's amazing. Chop up a leek, boil the pieces till soft, put some chicken stock in a pan, with 590ml of water, slice some potatoes, boil them in with the stock till soft, then drain them off, saving 200ml of the stock. Layer the potatoes and leeks in an oven proof dish and then pour the remaining stock over them. For extra flavour get 4 rashers of bacon, cut off all visible fat, then cut up into slices and place over the top of the potatoes. Cover with foil and cook for 20 mins. Then uncover and put back in to the oven for a further 20 mins and voila!!! It can be served with vegetables or salad.

My favourite flavour shake.....Oh definitely chocolate! It's the only fix I get now :D

If I could create my own flavour shake......Hmm..chocolate orange!

Reaching your weight loss goals will mean.....the world to me. Knowing that I've changed my life and the way I feel about how I look. It doesn't sound much but that is what would make me happy.

My 'danger' times are.....definitely mid morning! I get through them by drinking water and then nibbling on some Ryvita Crackerbread or fruit. I also look at an awful picture of myself that I have on the cupboard and it immediately deters me from hitting the chocolate and crisps!

My exercise routine.....is using my Wii fit religiously with all the different activities. It's helping me try to lose weight all over my body and not just the one place. Hula hooping is fab too for the waist, 30 minute step ups are also fab for thighs, bums and even the waist. The Yoga on there is good too! It also helps with relaxing the mind :) I also do housework for an hour daily and the school run twice a day.

My one message to others who want to lose weight would be...You can do it! Take each day at a time and don't push yourself too hard. I find sticking a photo of myself looking really big on the fridge and cupboard helps. It deters me from eating rubbish! And don't keep the diet to yourself - speak to others in the same boat as they can advise you and support you as and when you need it.
