Amanda Holden has today revealed that she is pregnant with a baby girl. The Britain's Got Talent star's much-wanted son was stillborn seven months into Amanda's pregnancy in February. 40 year old Amanda is said to be 'thrilled and overwhelmed'! Amanda and her music producer husband Chris Hughes already have a 5 year old daughter called Lexi. Miss Holden will be passing over the role of Princess Fiona to Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, who is about to join the cast of Shrek The Musical.
One of Amanda's closest friends said: 'Amanda and Chris are just so, so happy. This is a dream come true.....Amanda was adamant they would try again after the tragedy of losing their little boy, and doctors will be keeping an extremely close eye on her. She is under the best possible medical care.'
Amanda and her husband have gone on to become very close to the midwives who were so supportive of them when their son was stillborn. Amanda told The Mail on Sunday that the midwives....'.....went above and beyond the call of duty, both personally and professionally. I cannot thank them enough.'
Amanda was admitted into hospital when she was 7 months pregnant as she had not felt the baby kick for 24 hours. Doctors could not save her son even though he was 'physically perfect'. She said that she had to be sedated as she went into shock :'It was without doubt the blackest period of my life....You never think that it might happen to you. I was an absolute mess. Poor Chris was too but he was amazing.'
Amanda's statement to her fans is below:
"Chris, Lexi and I are delighted to announce that I am pregnant and we are expecting a little girl. The first half of this year has been unbelievably difficult for us and so we are beyond delighted to share this news with you. My first priority is of course my family. I will therefore be adjusting one of my professional commitments accordingly. Due to its physical content this means I will end my contract with Shrek The Musical eight weeks early. I will endeavour to continue the show until the 3rd October. I do however ask you to bear with me as I will be putting myself and this pregnancy first. I have taken medical advice and although I am a strong girl and this is 'once again' a good healthy pregnancy I will absolutely not be taking any risks."
Congratulations from TheBabyWebsite Amanda! Good Luck & Take Care!
