A new survey has revealed that over half of new mums want cosmetic surgery. Two out of five women would consider some sort of surgical 'mummy makeover' to get their bodies back to their pre-pregnancy state, according to new research.
Shockingly, 57% of women would ideally like to have cosmetic surgery while still in hospital after giving birth.
The new figures also reveal the top concerns for women post-pregnancy, with the most women worrying about their weight, 24% worrying about stretch marks, 21 % concerned about loose skin, 14% cellulite and only 7% worried about their sagging breasts. The survey also found that 93% of women said that regaining their post-pregnancy body was a priority for them after birth.
Men were also asked about their feelings on their partner's figure. Almost three-quarters of men said they didn't care about their partner gaining weight during or after pregnancy, with only 16% said that it was a concern for them. This is in stark contrast to the 67% of women who worried that their husbands wouldn't find them attractive during or after pregnancy.
Cosmetic procedure expert Stephen Handisides says increasing numbers of women are exploring surgical options to restore their bodies to its pre-pregnancy shape:
"While most women enjoy being pregnant and the changes it brings to their bodies, many are concerned about those changes, such as weight gain and stretch marks, becoming permanent and are much more pro-active than they used to be in seeking out surgical options such as 'mummy makeover' procedures including tummy tucks, breast lifts and liposuction ....... while women are worried their partners may not find them attractive with extra pregnancy weight, the vast majority of men say they don't care."
