We were looking forward to our Siblu holiday at Domaine de Dugny, but first had to endure the drive to France with three young children in tow. Much to our surprise it was relatively hassle free with the children enjoying the ferry crossing and with lots of rest spots along the road in France. The Park is only 5 hours from Calais, so it was fine.
We arrived at the site in the evening so the reception was closed, but all our details and keys were left at the bar, so we went straight to our caravan. The caravan itself was spacious and clean with a covered terrace outside which had a large table and chairs and some sun loungers. Also included was a gas barbeque which was great! The caravan had everything we could need including microwave, fridge freezer, cooker and washing lines. It had two good sized bedrooms with a pull out bed in the living room if needed. It had lots of storage space so it didn’t feel at all cramped considering there were 5 of us staying there.
The site itself is set in beautiful countryside along a river with plenty of space for the children to play around. It has a great pool, which includes a big outdoor pool with big slides and a rapids feature. This was a great hit with us adults and our 8 year old. There was also a small childrens pool outside and a bigger heated pool under a retractable roof, which was mostly semi covered. This was great for our 3 year old and the baby because of the warmth of the water and the safety out of the suns harmful rays.
The site hosts static caravans as well as having pitches for touring caravans and campers. All pitches at Domaine du Dugny were contained within tree-lined fields which provided great shade, preventing the tents from getting too hot. The washing facilities for the campers were great and many of the campers commented on them being the cleanest they’ve ever experienced on a camp site.
Also on the site you are able to hire bikes, which our 8 year old chose to do. We felt perfectly at ease with her cycling around on her own or with the friends she had made. The camp site is that safe. There are numerous playgrounds, a trampoline, pedalo hire and a multisports site to name but a few, as well as a restaurant, bar, cyber café, shop and a takeaway hut. There was also entertainment provided in the evenings which was enjoyed by both adults and children.
We spent much of our holiday exploring the beautiful Loire valley. We visited beautiful chateux, local markets and varying towns and villages. There’s really enough to do for a 2 week stay, let alone a one week stay and the views you get are stunning. The food and wine in the area is also beautiful especially the goats cheeses and pains au chocolate (not good for the waistline though!).
All in all our holiday was one of the best family holidays we’ve been on for both relaxation and entertainment. We would definitely recommend this site and are eager to explore the other Siblu sites available.
