The 1982 film ET has surprisingly been voted as the best family movie of all time. The Steven Spielberg film about a cute alien whose 'death' makes even the most hard-hearted viewer shed a tear was an easy winner. Over 2500 people voted in the Radio Times poll and the old classics The Wizard of Oz and Mary Poppins came 2nd and 3rd place. Animated films have been incredibly successful over the past two decades but only one film from this milennium makes it into the Top 10! Over half of the top 10 films were produced more than 40 years ago with only Shrek and Toy Story managing to find a place alongside Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Sound of Music. The results of the poll could be something to do with the age of Radio Times users but whatever the reasons for the results, the poll still makes an interesting read. The top ten films are: 1 ET the Extra Terrestrial 2 The Wizard of Oz 3 Mary Poppins 4 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 5 Toy Story 6 Shrek 7 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory 8 Back to the Future 9 The Jungle Book 10 The Sound of Music August 2010 Share This... | ||||
