12% of women claim they feel completely unprepared for pregnancy In a recent survey to explore how women feel about their bodies and what they go through, 87% of British women also say they don’t feel at ease with the physical changes that happen to their body during puberty. The survey revealed too that over a fifth said that they didn’t understand or feel comfortable with any changes which their body has gone through, throughout their 20s, 30s, pregnancy and the menopause.
Most women are true optimists, believing the best is yet to come. Nearly a quarter of UK women aged 18 to 23 years felt they would be utterly content after the birth of their first child. Women aged 25 to 34 years felt they’d be happiest when their children have flown the nest, showing that UK women wish their youth away, hoping the grass will be greener.
In comparison, an amazing 97% of retired women surveyed, stated that they feel completely happy and content, as pressures ease in later life. According to the survey too, over three-quarters of women who have just gone through the menopause feel finally satisfied with their life.
However, despite everything, women still love being women… Findings show that women most love being women because of the complex relationships and freedom to express their emotions.
Looking at the result of the survey regionally it is clear that for Welsh women the teen years are by far the best years of their lives. Over 19% of Welsh women believe they were the most happiest and content when they were young. The survey has revealed that women in Scotland are the ever-optimists, believing that contentment is right around the next corner. Over a quarter of women surveyed are desperate to reach retirement as the pressures of working life and parenting will significantly ease. And it appears that Southerners prefer puberty over pregnancy and Yorkshire women treasure motherhood most. Yorkshire women believe that motherhood is the stage in life where they feel most content and confident. In comparison to only 10% of Londoners who regards this a their most special life stage.
