88% of families are planning the wrong kind of activity to keep the children busy over the Easter holidays. The majority of parents believe the most expensive days out will please their little ones but recent research has proved otherwise.
A new survey has revealed that parents would choose to eat out, go to a theme park or visit the cinema with their children, with less than 12 per cent per cent stating they would stay at home. However, 69 per cent of children between the ages of three and eight revealed that they would most like to play at home with family and friends this Easter.
Kristian Johnson, Marketing Manager at Born to Play, who conducted the research, said: "It is interesting to hear that children still enjoy the simple things in life, choosing time at home over days out. These results should be welcomed at a time when living costs are rising and purse strings are tight. Parents can keep the children happy over Easter whilst spending some all important quality time with them."
In a separate survey, an incredible 74% of parents surveyed also revealed that their outdoor toy of choice from their youth was their bike. Other favourites included the scooter, roller skates and paddling pool.
The official top ten outdoor toys as voted for by parents are:
1. Bike
2. Scooter
3. Hobby horse
4. Paddling Pool
5. Football
6. Bat and Ball
7. Roller Skates
8. Skipping Rope
9. Sand Pit
10. Bucket & spade
