According to recent research, 62% of families are now looking for different day trips or outings, which won’t cost a fortune. Visits to theme parks are great but can make a large dent in your wallet, so the nation are looking to find FREE things to do. Families with children under the age of 18 are considering alternative types of outings or day trips because of the economic climate. If you are looking for inspiration on how to entertain your family this Whitsun Bank Holiday, here are the top FREE five family activities.
Top of the list is visiting a country park. 40% of families are more likely to make their way to country parks this year as there are so many fun activities to do with children there, such as exploring wildlife, woodland trails and endless ball games.
In second place, 39% of families think that a picnic is a great option. If yummy food, good company and fab views appeal to you it seems you are not alone. Times may be hard but this credit crunching family past time is an excellent way to watch those pennies and have lots of fun and adventure at the same time.
In third place is visiting a beauty spot as 33% of families opt for family fun in the great outdoors. With so many picturesque spots in the British Isles there’re plenty of ways to keep the family busy.
Joint fourth, 31% of families are likely to visit a town or city or go walking/rambling, opting for fresh air over the pictures and popcorn this summer.
And finally at number five, 22% of families will be taking a cycle trip together with 13% cycling within their local area and 9% going the extra mile further a field.
The research shows that even though families may be feeling the pinch, there is still loads of FREE fun and adventure that can be had without having to dig deep into your pockets.
