With the current economic climate many families will chose to stay in the UK this year. Whether you are packing up the car to see friends or going on an exciting camping adventure, here are a few practical tips for a stress free drive and great start to your holiday.
Preparation is the key to long journeys when travelling with little ones. Write yourself a check list to ensure nothing is left behind.
Consider driving at night to ensure young children’s sleep routine is not broken.
Pack the car the night before to avoid morning rush and stress, nothing kills the moment more to the start of a trip than getting started on a bad note.
Always check oil, water, petrol and AA cover
Dress children in comfortable clothes such as soft cottons for the journey, you can always take a change of clothes for them to look their best on arrival of location.
Children want to be entertained not listen to the news on the radio, sing along tapes are great for the whole family and keeps spirits high.
Always have a favourite cuddly and a blanket.
Car sun shades and child view mirrors are car accessories you wouldn’t want to be without. Very handy for protecting children from UV rays and checking what is going on in the back seats.
Pre pack drinks, snacks and finger food for long journeys.
Don’t forget wet wipes for sticky fingers and spillages.
Entertainment doesn’t have to take over the whole car. Memory games such as ‘My grandma went to the market’ is great entertainment as well as eye spy!
For young children always make sure a potty and sick bags are kept handy. By avoiding toilet stops as often as possible, will cut expenses at service stations.
