2008 Celebrity Baby Names

Although the Great British public have played it safe with their baby names in 2008, choosing Olivia and Jack as the top baby names, celebrities haven't disappointed us.

Celebrities obviously like giving us ordinary mums and dads something to talk about and 2008's crop of baby names contains some way-out, outlandish choices.

Many British A-listers have opted for strong, masculine names. Jonny Lee Miller and his wife Michele chose Buster for their son and Stella McCartney went for Beckett. Billie Piper and husband Lawrence Fox chose the very traditional Winston for their first-born son. Jamie Theakston's choice of Sidney for his little one, was quite surprising?

If the Brits went for no-nonsense names, their counterparts in The States went completely bonkers. Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz chose the Bronx Mowgli for their bundle of joy and poor Gwen Stefani's newborn son has the odd moniker of Zuma Nesta Rock.

Radio 1's Jo Whiley gave her daughter the name Coco Lux but what were Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban thinking when they called their newborn daughter Sunday Rose? How many of us have read that as Sunday Roast?

More and more 'celebrities' kept their name choices a secret in 2008. Kirstie Allsopp's second son was born in August but who kinows what he's called? So many people commented on her last child's name Bay Atlas that she presumably felt enough was enough. Natasha Kaplinksy managed surprisingly to keep the name of her first child, Arlo, out of the papers for 3 months before telling Now magazine. Helena Bonham Carter and husband Tim Burton however win the prize for the best-kept secret. They managed to keep their daughter Nell's name a secret for a whole eight months!
