Bonus For Mums Whose Waters Break In B&Q

B&Q has announced a bonus for mums whose waters break when they're shopping there.

According to the DIY store, there's been a recent rash of mums going into labour whilst finishing off their 'nest-building' in preparation for their new arrival.

Singer Charlotte Church went into labour with first child, Ruby, in her local B&Q car park. With her second child due in December, staff in the Cardiff store nearest her house are on standby for another visit.

The store has now announced that it will give an early birthday present of a gift card for £250 to help decorate the newborn's nursery if mum goes into labour either in the store or the car park.

Jacqueline Caston, a spokeswoman for B&Q, said: 'We are introducing the B&Q baby bonus scheme to ensure new mums can create a stylish haven for their new arrival – after all, going into labour can be stressful at any time, let alone on the shop floor! After Charlotte Church's well-publicised B&Q labour last year we wanted to find a way to support any future B&Q births nationwide.'

To qualify for the baby bonus, mums-to-be need to notify a member of staff at the time and, once their baby is born, they must provide proof of birth, such as a birth certificate within 45 days.

We've all heard stories about companies giving mums in labour free food or nappies if their waters break in their store, and TheBabyWebsite would love to hear from any mum who gets the B&Q Baby Bonus as we've yet to actually meet one of these lucky women.
