Sex-change man Thomas Beatie is having another baby.
The American man who was born a woman and gave birth naturally in June this year, has revealed he is pregnant again. American Thomas Beatie had his breasts removed, lived outwardly as a man and legally changed his gender to male.
Once known as Tracy Lagondino, the 34-year-old said he retained his female sex organs because he knew he always wanted to be able to give birth one day.
He told a US television news programme he was due to give birth in June. After the birth of his first child, Thomas said he had carried on without testosterone injections because he wanted to fall pregnant again.
He is officially recognised as a man in Oregon. He was born female, but had sex change surgery so he could marry partner, Nancy. He took male hormones, which meant he was able to grow a beard, but he kept his womb and ovaries because he wanted to have a child. As Nancy has undergone a hysterectomy and is unable to have children, he became pregnant by a sperm donor.
After a 40-hour labour he gave birth to Susan Juliette. At the time, he said: 'The only thing different about me is that I can't breastfeed my baby. But a lot of mothers don't.' Apparently Nancy, 46, has been able to express milk and has been breastfeeding the baby
Announcing the second pregnancy, he told US news host Barbara Walters: 'I feel good. And everything is right on track.'
