Mumpreneurs have always been around in spite of the fact that the press would have us believe that it's a completely new phenomenon. Rachel of Rachels Organic being a case in point.

As Britain’s first ever certified organic dairy Rachel’s Organic is passionate about letting nature shine through in their delicious range of organic yogurts, milk, desserts, cream and crème fraiche.

As well as being the first, Rachel’s are proud to be the fastest growing organic dairy in Britain and they believe their success is down to a passion for working in harmony with nature and a commitment to using only the best organic ingredients to create gorgeous products that taste as ravishingly good as they look.

But where did it all start?

Founded by the eponymous Rachel Rowlands, the inspiring story of Rachel’s Organic begins many years ago on the fields of Brynllys Farm in rural west Wales.

Nurtured by Rachel's family since 1942, Brynllys has been farmed organically for generations. In fact, Rachel’s mother was one of the first people to sign up to the Soil Association in 1952. So, it was only natural that Brynllys went on to become Britain’s first ever certified organic dairy.

When Rachel and her husband Gareth took to the helm in 1966, they remained true to her family’s organic principles supplying premium quality organic milk to the Milk Marketing Board.

However, in 1982 the elements conspired to set them on another path. Freak snow storms hit Aberystwyth preventing the milk tankers from reaching the farm and Rachel was forced to find other ways of using the milk. So, whilst her family began distributing emergency supplies locally, in her own pioneering way, Rachel heralded a quiet revolution by resurrecting her grandmother’s butter churn and setting about making cream and butter by hand.

Once the snows had cleared, Rachel and Gareth discovered that they had inadvertently created a market for their products. Spurred on by this success, Rachel began researching old recipes for more dairy products, including yogurt and the Rachel’s Organic brand was born, paving the way for all of us who care about food and where it comes from. The rest, as they say, is history!

Between 1985 and 1990, demand for Rachel’s Organic delicious yogurts grew so much that a new purpose-built dairy was built. And it wasn’t

long before supermarkets such as Sainsburys, Waitrose, Tesco and Morrisons were stocking Rachel’s Organic nationwide. Since then Rachel’s have expanded their range of delicious organic dairy products to include yogurt, milk, desserts, cream and crème fraiche, all of which have become much loved, household favourites! As well as astronomic sales, last year also saw Rachel’s Organic yogurts featured on British Airways!

Upcoming new products include completely revamped yogurt multipacks plus brand new baby (from 6 months) and children’s ranges.
