Angel Delight And Space Hoppers

Angel Delight And Space Hoppers

Their own children have been born into a world of super-slim laptops, iPods and “invisible” downloads, but today’s parents still yearn for the less high-tech days when a Space Hopper was the height of cool, Enid Blyton made girls want to be called George and Angel Delight was too yummy to share with friends.

Sudocrem asked 3,439 parents to vote for their ‘favourite things’ from yesteryear. The results show our love for all things vintage and set the scene for a trip down memory lane.

Top of The ‘Favourite Things’ poll were joint favourite roller skates and Enid Blyton books, which were both voted for by 45% of parents. In second place, came truly scrumptious Angel Delight – although parents were torn between Butterscotch and Strawberry – which received votes from 37% of parents.

The Space Hopper, that incongruous big, bouncing orange thing with alien ears is still a hit with 21st century kids and came joint third in the poll with Ladybird books; both received votes from 35% of parents.

Those ‘real’ toys, Lego, Barbie and Action Man which fired the imagination back in the sixties and seventies, never seem to go out of fashion and came in at number four and five in the chart being favoured by 34% and 29% of parents.

When it comes to bikes, who can forget the Chopper? One glance at those over- sized handle bars and the average dad is immediately transported back to the risky business of doing wheelies. Perhaps not surprisingly the Chopper rode into the chart receiving votes from 15% of respondents.
