Obviously it’s important to care for your feet all year round, but most of us feel that it's particularly important in the warmer weather because we want our feet to look good in our Summer sandals. After being hidden away all winter, your feet may not look their best. So here's a few tips for anyone who want to get rid of their cracked heels, dry skin and calluses. You could treat yourself to some of the many specialised foot-care products available or you could just 'make do'. Whichever you do, as long as you spend a little time on your feet and dole out a little tlc, your feet will look and feel loads better.
Feet Treat
Bathe feet in warm water and then dry thoroughly particularly between the toes.
Tackle rough skin with an exfoliating food scrub, or use a pumice stone or special foot file – these will slough away hard skin and also buff the skin and encourage healthy cell growth. Try to use a smooth, even motion and, whatever you do, don’t press too hard or for too long in one area. For the more stubborn areas, a corn and callus file can help to banish those really tough, unattractive patches of hardened skin. It's important to remember to always take special care near prominent bones or joints
Rub in a really intensive moisturiser.
Tidy up with nail clippers. Be sure to trim across the nail, following its natural shape. Don’t cut too close to the skin as it may make it sore.
Put your fave nail polish on your toes.
And last but not least, remember to protect your feet with sunscreen.
This should give you beautifully manicured feet – but if you have other foot 'problems' such as verrucae, corns, bunions, athlete’s foot or if you're a diabetic, you should chat to your GP or a podiatrist for expert advice.
