The Baby And All Bag
Last month the winner of the first Tommy’s Innovation Award 2008 was announced as The Baby and All Bag from Debra Clare.Designed for mums and dads with busy lifestyles, it is a stylish shoulder bag that conveniently transforms into a hands-free hip carrier. The Baby and All Bag has won having been nominated by parents as a must-have for anyone with a baby or toddler.
The Tommy’s Parent Friendly Awards were set up in 1995 with the aim to improve products and services for young families and parents-to-be, and to reward those companies that are getting it right. Tommy’s introduced the Innovation Award this year to encourage parents from all over the UK to tell other mums and dads about the product or service they simply could not have survived without.

Debbie came up with the design following the birth of her second child, Holly. Taking her son Joshua to school she often struggled to carry Holly, her handbag, Joshua’s school bags and hold his hand. She ended up occasionally resting her baby on top of her handbag and started thinking that there must be a way of creating a bag that could also comfortably and securely hold your child. With a background in fashion design, Debbie transformed an old pair of jeans into what became the proto-type of the Baby and All Bag. The rest, as they say, is history.
Commenting on her award, Debbie said: “I’m really pleased and very surprised as I know how many brilliant products there are out there for parents. I feel so proud that something that I dreamt up to use for my own children has been nominated by other parents as a 'must have' product!”
