Now Anyone can have a Water Birth

previousnext
In an effort to allow every woman the chance to use water for their birth in hospital OR at home, The Good Birth Company is offering a groundbreaking opportunity of FREE birthing pools for EVERY birthing unit and midwifery team in the UK with the purchase of disposable liners. Liners are just £20 each.

Every hospital and community team has been offered a FREE pool, so units can no longer say they might not have a pool available. "If they have a labour room available, they could have a pool available," says Good Birth Company founder, Amy Maclean.

"We believe that using water for labour can help transform birth experiences into more powerfully positive events. Access to water shouldn 't be restricted to those lucky enough to get the one pool at a unit or to those who can afford it! By removing the cost factor for hospitals, there is no reason units can not offer water to every woman. The cost of the liners is negligible and can be passed on to the mother or absorbed by the unit," says Maclean.

Montrose Royal Infirmary -- a pioneer in the world of water birthing -- is already proud to provide water to 56% of its parents. With The Good Birth Company 's NEW Birth-Pool-in-a-Box, it will have a pool available in EACH of its birthing rooms, thus allowing 100% of its mothers the choice of water. Until now, no other unit could boast this service!

Meanwhile, other units are doubling and tripling their availability of water to their women by using Birth-Pool-in-a-Box in their units.

Women at Mayday Hospital in Croydon are requesting the new pool over their plumbed in pool saying it is more "welcoming." They also enjoy that it has its own disposable liner, so there is no question about hygiene.

Midwives at Aboyne Hospital are raving, "Our midwives prefer the NEW Birth-Pool-in-a-Box to our rigid sided pool. It is easier to lean over the sides and assist the mother, and much easier to clean between uses. When not in use, the pool can be put on its side or quickly deflated to create more space in the room," says Lindy Macadie, Team Leader.
